Raising Carrots in Your Garden

You’ll want to start your carrots in your vegetable garden about 2 weeks before the last frost in your area. Make sure that your soil is loose to a depth of about 4 to 6 inches. Go ahead and add some compost or manure to enhance your soil. Make a furrow with a garden trowel about an inch deep, then add your carrot seeds, usually about 2 to 4 seeds per inch. Cover them with about a half inch of soil and then water them in. Make sure that they are watered about once per week and keep them as weed free as possible because they don’t compete well with most weed species. If you keep them weeded, watered and happy, in about three months time you’ll have a really nice crop of carrots. Check out the video here.
